Tampa Bay Battle Re-enactment

A re-enactment group held a battle at our nearby Veterans Park. We like to take our dog, Woogie, there because it's usually quiet. Today, the black powder muskets and canons were booming! Woogs was quivering in the van while we watched awhile.

In 1863, there was a battle in the Tampa Bay with the Union Army fighting to keep the Confederates from sailing to Cuba to trade cattle, etc. for gold.

Love the ladies' hats!

University of South Florida Visit

I was invited to the USF campus here in Tampa to talk to an English class about my passions of horses, dogs and books.

I also shared my experience with pet grooming and basic animal care. They need to create a presentation about this topic geared for youngsters.

They were kind enough to give me feedback on Woogie's next book - "Woogie's Travels - Discovering America."

Maybe a book trailer will be produced by a few students! I'll keep you posted.

Colorado Horse Rescue Event

What a fantastic turnout at the August 20th Open House at the Colorado Horse Rescue in Longmont, just north of Denver.

The guests had tours of the facility including meeting the equine residents, enjoyed carriage rides by Rocky, and a lovely cookout. At my booth, kids had fun decorating horseshoes.

I met a young author/illustrator who wrote a story about a horse party, and a pony named Boomer even stopped by for a peppermint!

A rescued gelding named Jessie, featured with Jessica, will be included in my next Beloved Horses book.
