I've been invited back to the Merritt Island Public Library for a writing workshop and signing on Wed. Nov. 19th from 1 - 3 pm. I'll be opening with the A, B, D's - The Craft of Writing and The Publishing Industry Today, but if the audience wants to expand more on character development, I'd be glad to focus on that topic. I'm looking forward to see friends I met the last time I was there!

Woogie's book is now available! (Covers above) And he has his own Blog, too! View at: http://woogiestravels.blogspot.com/

I had a wonderful time at Hanover Book Festival yesterday held in Mechanicsville, Va. This annual event organized by the Hanover Writer's Club gave me the opportunity to meet numerous readers and authors. I sold several of my books and swapped several more with other authors.

I'm always looking for reviewers for my young adult and horse books (authors, teachers, parents, avid readers and even children) and I made several contacts while there. I also made connections with people who knew equestrians with horse stories to be included in the next edition of the Beloved Horses series. I give complimentary copies of my books to all the reviewers and submitters for that book upon its release. If interested, e-mail me at sharonminer@yahoo.com.

I want to personally thank Joanne Liggan, who chaired the event, for all her efforts to make it a successful and well organized day - Kudos to Joanne!

As an author of books published both with a traditional press and a Print On Demand company, I enjoyed sharing my experience with several writers. I explained how extremely pleased I am with Infinity Publishing and how they are more "author friendly" than many other P.O.D. publishers. Visit their site to learn more: http://www.infinitypublishing.com/ They have a referral program that financially benefits both you and I if you want to pursue publishing your book with them! They have an online book catalog at http://bbotw.com/ and I send any customers of my books there if they want to make a purchase with a credit card.

Philadelphia Book Festival

What a wonderful time I had in the City of Brotherly Love! The festival's upbeat spirit was not broken by the blustery winds on Saturday nor the raindrops Sunday afternoon.

I shared the Infinity Booth with a few authors each day and enjoyed sharing our publishing insights. I had a chance to walk around the festival and chat with other authors. I was delighted to see my friend, Austin Camacho, there with his mystery books. At the end of this message is a list of the authors that attended, their books and URL's if they have one.

I had coloring pages made from the sketches in my horse books and the youngsters who stopped by enjoyed being artists! I displayed some of their work while others chose to take their artwork home. I even met a few adult horse lovers!

Several costumed characters entertained the crowds and I'm pictured with a Star Wars storm trooper! Darth Vadar made an appearance and Winnie the Pooh!
Check out the books by these authors (the books can be bought at Infinity's site at http://www.buybooksontheweb.com/ -
Bob Swiatek(NY) novelist and humorous cookbook http://www.bobcooks.com/

Author Events - Mid-Atlantic Region

We leave Florida at the end of April and head north with 3 trucks and trailers carrying 6 horses, 3 dogs and all our stuff! I'm looking forward to being in northern Virginia again - closer to our son, Josh in Philly! We will visit him and his girlfriend, Kate, the middle of May and also my retired horse, Sonny(left), in NJ. I'm so excited!!

A few of the planned events are below, and I'll add more as they are confirmed.

April 16 - Ocala Writer's Meeting: From 6:30 - 8 pm I'll be speaking about writing and getting published at the Ocala Writers meeting at the Marion County Public Library. This group is holding a special Author event in June, but I'll be up north then! So I offered to meet them before I leave. Laurie, the organizer for the events, works at my favorite Florida bookstore - Twice Read Tales - located just past the library. If you are in the area, join us! If not then, contact the library if you wish to join the group. Or visit the bookstore and talk to Laurie on the weekends!
Results: Ocala author Neal Tiffany joined me and spoke about his book, Bachelor Father Pioneer. He's pictured above with me at the meeting's end. You can purchase his book (and mine) at Infinity Publishing's site Buy Books On The Web - http://www.bbotw.com.

May 17 & 18 - Philadelphia Book Festival: (From the Web site) More than 60 of the nation's top writers will gather in Philadelphia for the second Philadelphia Book Festival, the Free Library's annual celebration of reading and literacy. The festival at the Parkway Central Library, 19th and Vine Streets offers two days of award-winning writers and poets in a lively atmosphere that combines stimulating book talks and celebrity signings with an eclectic blend of live music, children's entertainment, a new gaming gallery for all ages to enjoy, and a street fair with more than 80 literary exhibitors! The festival is a fun, free event that connects book lovers throughout the mid-Atlantic region.Legendary ABC news anchor and host Barbara Walters headlines the list of renowned authors with her new book, Audition: A Memoir.

With more than 80 exhibitors, the Book Festival's Street Fair is a book buyer's dream with an eclectic collection of publishers, bookstores, and independent authors showing and selling their latest books! I'll be doing readings and signings at the Infinity Publisher's booth - stop by and chat and collect free handouts!

October 18 - 21 - Keystone State Reading Association 41st Annual Conference: "Literacy: Food For Thought" will be held at the Valley Forge Convention Center, King of Prussia, PA. I will be conducting a few writing workshops and be featured during the Author's Breakfast & Teas. And of course, holding a book signing! My new book will be available then - a picture book featuring our Irish Terrier,Woogie!

My New Event Calendar

Welcome!

My wonderful and creative son, Josh, created my web site (http://www.sharonminer.com/) when my first horse book was released in 2004. He's a busy guy and rather than pester him with updates for my events, he's linked the Event Page to my Event Blog - Like Staples says, "That was easy!"

Anyway, it should be easier for him, now that I can update my own book signings, fundraisers, writing workshops and special visits to schools, libraries etc. I'll set it up quarterly but make changes in red as needed. Photos of the event, if any, will be added afterwards.

Any questions, or if you would like to invite me to your event, feel free to contact me by e-mail at sharonminer@yahoo.com
